#TrioThursdays: Fanny Pack

I admit, I used to find it as a dorky accessory (like something my uncle would wear) but I have to say you see things in  a different perspective especially if the reigning queen of fanny pack Kendall is always sporting it. Lol!

Once upon a light bulb moment, I found a way to DIY it using a regular hand/shoulder bag and a belt (that's not even totes matching in color) and I thought I should test drive the trend without spending anything. Here are the three ways I wore 'em below for today's hashtag post. The verdict? 

For someone like me who's always carrying the wold on her shoulders (literally with my gym stuff everyday), I could really do with having a separate hands-free bag to put all my fundamentals: cash, compact powder and my phone. The additional benefit? I love that it also doubles up as a cincher while making you look "hip" at the same time. :P Would you wear a fanny pack?

Tinted

Eclectic. This just happened to be one of my favorite words and one that perfectly describes the style of the 90s.  Trends from the early aughts is so diffused that we see a lot of revival of it today. From Britpops to R&B to grunge - there's a lot of influences to choose from. Of all the resurging 90's styles though (choker, slip dresses, sheer, velvet and many more lol) I'd have to say that this would be my most favorite - the tinted sunnies. 

First seen in Johnny Depp's movie in 1998, yellow tinted sunnies are having a moment now. I couldn't stress enough how I'm such a huge fan of using sunnies to complete a look especially I know nothing about eye make-up. 🙈 And these babies look so cool in this color. What I particularly like about this pair is how I can sleep on the way to work with them on. They don't cause fatigue unlike the others I'm using. And as I am researching on the reason behind that, I now learn that different colors for sunnies aren't only for fun but because they serve different purposes. Awesome! Read it here. Lol!

So with the added benefits of eye protection and coolness factor, what's not to love with these yellow aviators? My favorite thing to wear with them? LWDs or little white dresses as you'll see in the gallery below. :)

In Gingham We Trust

If there's one trend that I fully embraced last year, it'd have to be the off-shoulder. See this post. (Here and here too *wink*) To say that I'm happy that the trend is still going strong this year is an understatement. I'm waiting for the style deities to proclaim it as an "evergreen" piece.

Speaking of evergreens, in today's post I am going to feature this print that has stood the test of time and is currently being declared as the "It-print" this summer - the gingham. A two-color combo (the other one being white) pattern that is mostly known for its Dorothy association and uhmm it's place in the picnic should not stop you from wearing it to work for fear of being teased. But did you know that it was once worn by French bombshell Brigitte Bardot in one of her weddings and caused total shortage of the print in France right after? So if it can be worn to a matrimony, then yes you can definitely bring it to the workplace. Rigggghhtttt. Lol.

Seriously. If paired with the right pieces such as white buttondowns and midi skirts, this geometric pattern lends itself very well to the boardroom too. Wanna know how? Then check out how I styled them below. :)

Loud Stripes

This print has always been in style but it's different when designers make a splashy resurgence in fashion show catwalks (S/S 17 runway in particular).

This hue was big and is a favorite on the recent runways. And frankly, who doesn't?

Bold Earrings

A tiny little item that makes your outfit a bit interesting. To be honest, I've stopped wearing earrings since I got my shorter 'do. But from time to time I wear these dangling pieces in fear of my piercing closing. Lol.

Bustier

It's been proven again and again that adding a third piece to your outfit makes it more interesting. See my post here. With the waist being declared as the new erogenous zone of 2017, third pieces such as bustiers and corsets (as seen in my previous post) are your best bets for cinched silhouettes. So effortless. Because we all know how hard is it to workout that area of the body, right? :P

Statement Sleeves/ Sleeve Drama

So sad that they have moved over the shoulder-baring tops and migrated down to sleeve-making outfit. But style bloggers love a little drama. Lol. And I wholeheartedly embrace this trend. Haha!

For some reason, I like combining the two trends as seen below:

Robes

This piece prolly came from the pyjama trend that was also big last year and will come in silks and embroidered pieces. It brings the comfort of home to the outside world and I like that aside from being transitional pieces from winter to spring, they can also be used as swimwear cover ups too! More mileage? Count me in! :P
