Fashion Meets Tinder

Since last time we touched on fashion apps, today let's talk about dating apps - Tinder to be specific. What has that got to do with fashion? Nothing. Haha. But what happens when a fashion girl uses that crowdsourcing tool to pick the brains of guys on a certain trend? Hilarity ensues. Haha!

Before anything else, let me clear that I did not carry this social experiment myself. An editor of whowhatwear.com posted the article here using a simple poll on his matches - "What are your thoughts on culottes?" I painstakingly typed some of the guy's responses here since I want the photos in this blog to be purely about looks (I hope you understand). You can always click on the link to check the screenshots. :)

Jimmy here quoted a Britney Spears song in his response, haha!
Jimmy: It’s just, they’re not a girl – not yet a woman type of pants. Not shorts, nor pants. They’re stuck in the twilight zone of pants, waiting for the breakthrough that never comes…

I am loving Jahnu’s cheerleader moves here. Oooh, I think that I’ve found myself a cheerleader. Haha!
Jahnu: I like the look. Though I wouldn’t say I’m a head cheer leader for culottes. Maybe a back-up cheer, if that exists. A half a handstand, a quick pompom shaking and one ‘Rah’ and cheer.

James, in the meantime, is freaking out on this fashion opinion and wants to be in the safe side. =))
James: First of all, I think it’s a big ask to ask any guy for an opinion on fashion. We probably have a view on what clothes look like on girls but not standalone items. Secondly, I had to Google it – certainly don’t want to jump to a conclusion, especially if you’re going to be quoting me in a fashion mag…

Next to the most hilarious answers are the sans-culottes answers.  Like Alex’s below, hahaha!! You gotta give him props though for the links and all. HAHAHAHA!!!

Alex: Aesthetically I don’t have much of an opinion, but politically I would say I align strongly with the sans-culottes folk. http:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sans-culottes.

But the best part would be the flirty answers like Dennis':
Dennis: Hm. I think they are cute on the right person. Anyone that can pull them off. I feel like you could. ;)

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Okay, the sans-culottes answers were good trivia for history (lol!) but if you are a guy reading this and wants to know what a culotte really is, let the gallery below educate you. I have already posted similar articles (here and here) too if you're interested. :)

Baguio 2015

Elusive. That's how this city had been like to me in the past. Always there for a quick stopover - like after a mountain hiking or an adventure further up North but never really got the time to explore it. It was a good decision then for my brother to drive the family there for a weekend getaway :)

New York, New York

"Her name was New York, New York. She poisoned your sweet mind."

Aaaah, New York. Are there really enough words to describe this city??? I’ve been to the tallest building in the world in Dubai but trust me, just merely walking on the streets of this city makes you already feel like you are on top of the world. I don’t know. It’s just the electricity. Perhaps from all the bright lights of the skyscrapers in there? Or the fact that every street you turn to makes you feel like something extraordinary would happen and that every minute of it is film-worthy. =)

Alicia keys was right. In New York there’s nothing you can’t do. And to quote someone, if you get bored in New York, then that’s your fault. This city never runs out of things to see or to do. And all three days of my stay is not enough. There's just so much more to explore. But boy, to quote Frank Sinatra, I was ecstatic to be part of it. Even for just three short spectacular days. NYC, you’re perfect!

This one day outfit was taken around the lower Manhattan, inside the sprawling Metropolitan Museum of Art, the very lush Central Park, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge (being a total saddo tourist I know!!!) and the beautiful New York University.

Paper Fashion: Orange & Leos

Don’t you just love seeing yourself in cartoon form? I do too. But sadly, I’m not talented in that department. :P Luckily, the blogosphere is full to the brim with these fashion illustration artist showcasing their talents for us to admire. And most of the time those who wanna be discovered or noticed do it to famous stylebloggers, fashion bloggers or media personalities. So you can just imagine my surprise when after posting my regular outfit post through Instagram (IG:cassey_cakes for shameless plug lol!), I got a tag minutes after of a sketch of my look! It totally made my day!

I don’t know what made her (IG: _itssabri_) decide to use my look. But it’s just so cute and flattering at the same time. J Perhaps it’s that emotion that our instructor told us in the fashion styling class. You only have 3 seconds to make an impression through your outfit and trigger a reaction to others. And to her, that emotion is “Hey, I wanna draw this look.” :P

Also, I’m proud to announce that once again, the official Topshop account has approved this look through that social media channel and requested for a T&C acceptance for a possible feature. Even if it doesn’t get a publication anytime soon or forever, a recognition is still a recognition isn’t it? :P

Bridesmaids in Coral

Two weeks before my friend's wedding and I can't help but feel excited for it. (Update: Yes, I'm gonna be a part of it!!!) So let's do some more wedding-related stuff here alright? This time though it's not gonna be bridal stuff but rather, the bridesmaids. Yay!

It's going to be a late spring/ summer wedding in Toronto and though I'm not a wedding expert, I think there's no better way to add whimsy to a wedding than dressing up the bridesmaids in pastel colors paired with vibrant hues for this season. :)

I'm not officially part of the entourage too (lol!) so this post is more of my idea of a fun yet sophisticated wedding expressed through the motif. Obviously, I love color-blocking and mix-and-match so much so the gallery below showcases a colorblocking of warm and cool colors in pastel tones that are truly eye-catching and pleasant but using only one coral skirt. #twowaytuesday let us hashtag it this way :P

First combo: mint and coral. Aaah, this is just so refreshing. Like sipping my favorite cocktail mojito on a daytime, haha! Mint has been a popular hue since around 2012 I believe and the trend never really died I suppose. Matter of fact I have this mint pencil skirt that I keep on mixing and matching with different hues and prints at work - which reminds me to put it in queue here. :P

The second one I reckon is not a popular color combo and is just something that occurred to me last Sunday while deciding what to wear. But I think lavender works well with coral too from here. What do you think? And yes, don't be so much shocked with the change. I finally decided to chop chop my hair from that length. Lol! I'll prolly talk more of it in the next posts since I always try to post emo stuff when I make drastic changes to my hair haha. Meanwhile, enjoy the pics below and expect more to come soon. :)
