Mercure JKT

Switched hotels from last time where we regularly stayed at to be closer to the client’s office, Mercure’s location in Central Jakarta is just a huge relief given Jakarta’s traffic situation.😅 It’s just around 15 minutes away from the shopping locations in the city and there’s a metro station a few minutes’ walk away from the hotel.

Though most of the time I stayed in my room to work, it’s good that they have a trust speedy wifi connection that doesn’t limit the number of device that connects to it. (Fyi, I work with multiple phones in my job hehe). But I love the design of the room and how it’s just separated to the shower with a glass panel. Haha. Uhmm, it took time for me to adjust to this set-up (lol) but there are blinds provided too if you’re sharing with someone in the room.

I’ll probably spend most of my future biz trips here so I appreciate that they have a small gym at the 8th floor where the pool and rooftop bar is located. When I’m away for work, I usually do my workouts in the morning since some of the evenings are spent having dinner with clients. I either go for run or a swim. Just quick 15-30 minute cardios would do. ðŸ˜…

I’ve also tried their mocktails at De’Langit Rooftop bar one time in the late afternoon while my room is being serviced and it was a good alternative for a workplace with their discotheque music blasting in the background. Hehe. I’ve yet to try their Karaoke nights though since the last two times I stayed at were rainy evenings in JKT.

Lastly, the lobby. You can tell that the lobby means business with PCs provided for the guests. It’s nice that short informal meetings can be held here in this set-up and that I can always ask for a cold ginger tea from the reception. One of the receptionist (I forgot her name, my bad! ðŸ˜…) who greeted me personally in my return (she assisted me in my check-out last time :)) told me that I can ask for it anytime. Love that she remembered me and this extra service. Uhm, if anything, I don’t remember getting my chocolates on the first day of my second stay though. Lol. ðŸ˜…

Though sometimes you really don’t look forward to biz trips because of the work it entails and lost time going to and forth, but it’s not bad when you know you’re taken cared of in hotels like this.  Last time I explored the Cikini area by myself and found a good place for coffee. I look forward to exploring some hidden gems of this city during my stay in the future. And thanks to Mercure Cikini for the hospitality during my stay. ‘Til my next trip. ;)

**This trip is not paid by Mercure. Just sharing my personal review of the hotel. :)

Uncoordinated in KL

Two weeks ago, I went to KL for work. And outfit-wise, this was one of most uncoordinated when it comes to looks. Check why here. First of all, I violated my self-imposed rule not to wear casuals in the airport (I dunno coz I feel like it should look different than vacay airport looks, lol!). What little time me and my team had for sight-seeing was ruined though by the ongoing SEA Games coz flags were everywhere and national practices (atleast for the place I'd like to see). But overall, this trip has been such a good gastronomic experience and it might be true when our client's CEO said that "all the best chefs are in Malaysia." Aaaah Malaysia, truly Asia. Haha!

Malaysia Blues

Compared to the previous business trip, this was a rather fun one with more colleagues from work joining in and more importantly, without me getting sick. :P So it was a bit of a contrast though that I chose blues to be the theme of this particular trip and feature my patent leather ankle boots too. ;)

I also find it pretty amazing how I managed to stick to this theme scheme for all the trips this year. It can be really exhausting planning outfits mind you and I ain't sure how long can I keep up to the challenge. With that I'd like to ask myself, what am I trying to prove? Haha! Anyways, here are the looks for this trip:

It was also good to see this beauty again. :)

JKT Part 3

Move over slung-jacket look, draped vest is now the new in! :P Or at least according to me. That, and jumpsuit and the double buckle belt was the theme of my recent JKT biz trip ( if you’re new to my themed dressing , you can click here and here).

I had a scare this biz trip coz I arrived around midnight feeling under the weather. Things got worse the next day when my whole body was in pain and I was chilling for some reason. I had my checkup at the hotel itself and cried after. It’s so hard to be sick when you’re away from home. But I am extremely grateful to my friend Leq (one of our SW engineer) who came with me and my Indonesian girlfriend Ule for sending over some meds. Our plan to drop by my favorite restau/bar pushed through when I was better the next day. Yay!

Anyway, more of the buckled belt looks in my future posts. As mentioned previously, waist is now the body part du jour for fall/ winter so expect more corsets, bustiers and big belts soon. ;)

Jakarta (The Return)

Was sent back to this city last week and if you're new to this blog, check out the history of themed-dressing from my previous biz trip posts (here and here). :) It should be noticeable that for this trip it was my striped blazer and my dirty Chucks. *grin* It was a rather busy trip with no client meetings but hotel and field work with our project manager. This is not a promotion post (lol!) but I did love my stay at The Park Lane Hotel in Kuningan. :)

P.S. Hello from Singapore! :)

Red Blazer in JKT

First of all, I'd like to say that I never thought I'd be back here. And for work, nonetheless. The announcement was made mere days before the business meeting so it's all very short notice and I was surprised to find out that the city has suddenly become inaccessible (rare direct flights from Manila and tight schedules considering Jakarta's traffic situation) so a 1-hour appointment occupied three days in total. :-/

I had less time to prepare so again using the clothing formula last January, I opted to revolve my clothing around this red blazer (seen here). It's really much easier this way and gave me more time to focus on the presentation (I can really understand the advantage, Mark Z lol!). The boss said we need to sell and I relied on the power of this color. Also, I took this opportunity to help a friend sell her his pre-loved luxury handbags so if ever you're interested, head on over to this link to check out their items. :)
