White Sneakers at Work

Rainy season is upon us! Atleast here in the Philippines. You know what that means? That omnipresent white sneakers that is largely associated with the athleisure trend may not be appropriate anymore (maybe for some days). Splashing puddles in your Stan Smiths or triple white Huaraches (see the looks here)? NO, NO, NO. Trust me, I bought this highly recommended cleaner in Singapore last January but never really got the time to clean my shoes. :-/

So in what I would say a temporary adieu to my white sneakers, I’ve collated these looks on how I wore them to work for the last six months. As a bonus, I’ve added tips on how to make them work-appropriate. Atleast for casual Fridays? Check out these looks on how to elevate your white sneakers to work.

#1 Dress it up with a midi-length skirt or dress. You can always start with the basic colors (black or gray).

Dress: Zara (also here); Bag: Marks & Spencer; Shoes: Converse

Top/ Clutch: Mango; Skirt: Night market in Taipei; Shoes: Adidas

#2 Team it up with prints for a playful take at work.

Top/ Hat: H&M; Dress: Dorothy Perkins; Shoes: Adidas

Blazer/ Dress: Mango; Shoes: Converse; Bag: Marks & Spencer

#3 Take cues from Kendall Jenner and MOD (model off-duty) it up in all-black. She isn’t the queen of Pinterest boards for nothing.

Outerwear: Topshop (also here); Dress: Terranova; Bag: Balenciaga; Shoes: Adidas

Jacket: Topshop; Dress: Unbranded; Shoes: Adidas

#4 Shirtdress. It’s versatility is endless. You should really invest in this timeless piece. Glad I found mine from this trip.

Silver Linings

So... I was supposed to be on track working on my Maldives post but... THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY PICTURES. LOL!

So let me post a little something related to the MET Gala that happened earlier this month while I was enjoying the Indian Ocean. I was only able to keep up with the red carpet fashion when I returned. I learned that the theme was "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" which is all about innovative and futuristic looks. This made me happy because I felt that this metallic pleated top from a recent purchase was "relevant". :P

Top: Mango; Pants: Dorothy Perkins; Shoes: Miss Selfridge; Bag: Kate Spade

For me, Poppy Delevingne and Emma Watson complied the most in the futuristic and innovative category respectively. :) So that next Sunday, after getting inspired from the silvery looks of the red carpet, I came up with this combo. Perhaps it doesn't fully comply to the futuristic per se but I believe it is better than some of the ensembles in the red carpet. However expensive theirs may be. :P

Jurong Gardens

One look at the spiral stairs of the Chinese Garden in VisitSingapore (btw, a top tip in checking out countries you visit in Instagram) and I was sold. Located all the way to the west side of Singapore, I could understand why some would put it off in their agendas. But I was determined to see it for myself on my first day, with or without company. Luckily, through a random chat and a casual mention of the place, I found out that John (a friend of mine/ SG resident now for 2 years) hasn’t been and was willing to test out his new camera. ;) I was secretly happy to dress (and hat up) more than necessary. Hihihi. *wink*

Sometimes it’s one of those super random and unplanned activities that bring out the best moments no? John and I had a pleasant stroll for two-hours through the beautifully manicured gardens in that cloudy afternoon. Some of its details are just too pretty like one of the pathways in the 4th picture below. Oh and did I mention it was fun trying to imitate the “follow me to”concept? Haha. It was indeed the perfect day to spend the Labor day holiday. The Jurong Gardens, however far from the city, certainly lives up to its blurb – a perfect respite from the bustle of the city. Mad Hatter in SG

Was back in Singapore last week for a stopover to the "ultimate beach trip of the year". *wink wink*  Blog post soon. It's official!!! I "theme" in my travels and for this particular trip, it's the hats. It's been pretty much established that aside from shoes, I hoard hats too. :P

Admittedly, albeit embarrassingly, I did a lot of gym trips in SG. (Hello, Indian ocean?!?! Lol!) But I made sure to check out some of their tourist spots that I haven't visited even in my umpteenth time like Haji Lane (which I was only able to check out at night time last January), Art and Science museum that has always piqued my curiosity with that interesting lotus flower architecture at Marina Bay Sands (and has a lot of amazing stuff too!!!) and Chinese Garden which is so faaaar away at Jurong East. Lol! I will have a separate post about it too.

Sadly, I was not able to cross off all the food item in my checklist as I missed the Ban Mian noodle, haha! But it was over-all fulfilling for a side trip in Maldives. :) Watch out for the new posts!!! :) :) :)

Jakarta (The Return)

Was sent back to this city last week and if you're new to this blog, check out the history of themed-dressing from my previous biz trip posts (here and here). :) It should be noticeable that for this trip it was my striped blazer and my dirty Chucks. *grin* It was a rather busy trip with no client meetings but hotel and field work with our project manager. This is not a promotion post (lol!) but I did love my stay at The Park Lane Hotel in Kuningan. :)

P.S. Hello from Singapore! :)
