A little Gigi, A Little Bella

By this time, I’m sure that most of you are already familiar with the way I sometimes “copy” celebrity outfits. If you aren’t, then check out the ways I copied Olivia Palermo here. Most of my friends are baffled how I’m able to do so. Hmmm.

First of all, let me tell you this. Celebrities are just like us. They just happen to have a stylist and endorse/ wear expensive clothes XD The first question they throw at me is whether I purposely buy an item just to copy a celebrity outfit. Well, of course not. Lol. But I must admit that there are items, specifically Kendall endorsed accessories that I bought (gaaah, she’s so effective at this!) because I saw the styling possibilities in them. And yep, that should be the reason for the purchase. Also, in my part it does help that there are sponsors where I can request some “trendy” items from. This will be elaborated more below.

Second, how do I find the celebrity outfits? Again, it’s not like I purposely find an outfit to copy. Most of the times I just happen to see them in style websites and it would hit me like, BAM! I have all the ingredients of this outfit (albeit a budget-friendly one). Lol! Instagram is an endless source of outfit inspo from celebs themselves. Take for example this look that Gigi Hadid debuted during the fashion week in Milan.

It’s a polarizing outfit that features a skirt over pants in one denim piece and made its way to different style websites to “discuss”. See, it’s become so controversial that Mango itself made a replica of the one-piece and named it after the model herself here. Luckily for me, having this pants and denim skirt made it easier for me to recreate the “focal point” of the ensemble. So, see and judge for yourself below. J

The second look below is not an exact copy but since we’re talking Gigi and point #2 above, let’s have a look at one of Bella’s MOD outfit as seen here. It’s a very basic one that involves denim and a bodysuit. I recreated it below using Zaful's item below:

Advanced Happy International Women's Day! :) What usually comes to your mind on this occasion? Granted there's still a lot of issues to fight about but for the sake of this post let's just focus on celebrating women's achievements. Now I know that everyone’s still reveling about Leo’s recent win in the Academy (finally!!!), but allow me to backtrack a few weeks earlier to talk about another awarding ceremony and an incredible woman in it - The Grammys. We all know that Taylor Swift just put herself in the elite category with two Album of the Year awards but that's hardly the whole story. Youngest woman to be included in Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women list? Seriously, when you think of women who's achieved so much it's hard not to think of her. 

In the recent Grammy's, Tay bagged other awards including Best Music Video for the star-studded “Bad Blood”. Of course, which music video could represent women empowerment better than that #squadgoals all-femme-fatale cast film? Lol. Fun fact: Did you know that Swift scored a $13,000 worth of costumes for this video from a fetish boutique in Los Angeles?

So what's the connect in this post? I hope you didn’t expect a style post using latex outfits inspired from the video here. No, no, no. Haha! I’m actually here to compile individual celebrity-inspired looks from some members of the glam squad including Cara Delevigne, Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss. Tay's best friends are all successful women in their own right and of course women with incredible style too. Enjoy the gallery below. :)

With Milan being ranked as one of the fashion capitals in the world, it is but right to listen to what their influential women has to say or two about style and grooming. And it’s just surprising that, according to this report from Vogue, Italian women would never wear a jumpsuit. *Gasp*

A jumpsuit!!! I would love to tell a tale about the very many ways to wear a jumpsuit, haha! But that can’t be possible because that piece is endlessly versatile especially a black one. Read about my white one here or how I copied Olivia Palermo's look using the same jumpsuit below here. I can practically imagine my whole wardrobe around a jumpsuit. I can't live without one. I. CAN’T. EVEN. Lol.

So to prove the versatility of a black jumpsuit, let us start off with a celebrity-inspired look from Rihanna with gold accessories.   This look may be from years ago but it doesn’t feel so outdated isn’t it? And also why her? Coz she just released a new album and I’m LSS-ing (last song syndrome) on  the first release Work. :P Stay tuned for more jumpsuit posts.

A Week in Monochrome

Though I always plan my outfits in advance, it's weird that sometimes I feel more accomplished as a planner when there was a certain theme for the week. :P There are times when it'd start with the first outfit decided on a Monday say, a pop of red and then decide to go on a streak thereafter or some cases when I notice later from my fashion app that I have been unconsciously wearing light colors such as pink and orange for consecutive days. For this particular week of interest though, there was a deliberate attempt to wear monochrome for four days. 

So why monochrome? As learned from some credible style websites, this is one of those slimming tips applied by celebrities. As if they need to look more slim XD I know I've just posted something about universally slimming items here but this is another style tip. Wearing one color from head to toe is visually lengthening, making you look taller and leaner. Black on its own is already a slimming choice but other options such as all white and gray works too. Btw, the gray look is taken out since it was already featured in the same link above. :)

Something About Gray

All in the name of making his company successful, Mark Zuckerberg wears the same nondescript gray shirt everyday. According to the CEO of Facebook, breakfast along with clothing are some of those “silly or frivolous decisions” he doesn’t want to spend too long making. He even pointed out further that other influential people like Apple founder Steve Jobs or President Barack Obama have the very same theory with regards to choosing their outfits.

Frivolous decision. Hmmm. For someone like me who devotes an obscene amount of time planning outfits, I think this is a bit offensive. But in all fairness, I do have some areas in my life where I don’t want to spend too much time thinking on too. Take for example, my whole packed lunch for the week – a carefully selected set of veggies if you must know. Which brings me to the point, it’s not just about "thoughtlessly" picking out a color. That even though it is uniform, it is somehow carefully thought of. Like for brand building purpose or something. Heck, he could've just said it's his favorite color and we all stop wondering. In that note, I kinda like how this article by the Gurdian questioned the CEO’s statement about it here.

Anyway, gray is such a color that is both understated and unabashed. I have pointed out in the past how I have appreciated it that eventually led me to purchasing a plain shirt. Fact: you will never ever catch me in a plain shirt (except for some moments in the gym). Also in the same post, you will see this very same shirt below styled in layers. But to prove how classy this color can be on its own and somehow taking a leaf out of Zuckerberg's book, let’s turn to celebrities for inspiration. Here I present to you two gray shirt ensembles care of the two models I look up to when it comes to styling: Miranda Kerr and Kendall Jenner. Enjoy!

Red Trouser Suit

Since I just turned a year older last week (yikes!), I thought of doing a post about “work-appropriate” investment pieces for this age, nay decade. I’m not revealing the exact number though, haha! I’m talking about that “discerning stage” in life where the job is expected to be going full steam ahead and so the clothes should get an upgrade too. Target mission: sophisticated working woman. So ladies, may I introduce to you the trouser suit? ;-)

Trouser suits are a great classic. I remember wishlist-ing for a printed pair in my other blog. Back then, the matching coordinates trend was too strong and surprisingly the game is still on 'til now. :) But just like my coordinating set post here, the pair of blazer and pants shown below is another by-product of, again there's that word, magically coordinating themselves. What's the diff from the previous post? Well, here I'm using pieces from the same brand so maybe the designers thought of creating the latter with the previous one in mind? Like meant to be pieces? Haha! Who knows? :P

A trouser suit is composed of as the name suggests, a trouser and a matching coat or jacket. The joy in experimenting with these pieces is the diversity of prints you can include for the inner top. You can go for prints, colorblocking or play with textures. I'm talking about a basic colored set that is, like red. So why red? Well it's not just for the birth month, but it is such a standout color. It just really commands attention while still being considered a neutral in the corporate world. :) P.S. For additional styling tip, you can also go for no top at all as seen in Rachel McAdams here. But of course, it is applicable only for post-work parties. Haha! :P

Celebrity-Inspired: Tuxedo Dress

Vanity Fair has released their Best Dressed Women of 2015 in the World (here) and I’m happy to see my favorite Hollywood actress Emma Stone make it in the coveted list. :) You see not only does the A-lister have a funny character, she and Andrew are simply the most adorable couple on Earth (believe me, I almost lost my trust in “forever” when rumors spread that they split) and best of all she is always the coolest girl on the red carpet. I know, too much fangirling here so let's just quickly move to her fashion choices.

In these days, the trend seems to be boyfriend-anything and Emma Stone made a nod to that when she showed up in something tuxedo-inspired during the SAG awards early this year. Because seriously, why not turn a tuxedo into a dress? I.SIMPLY.CANNOT.UNPOST it in my other blog for wishlist as seen here. The tuxedo jacket dress is layered over a sheer, sweeping fishtail skirt and is by Dior couture. It is just too edgy, empowering and iconic at the same time. I love, love, love this dress. I'd also love to use the word "innovative" on that. 

And to prove just how unforgettable this dress is, months after without quite meaning to, I was able to dug items in my closet to recreate that look. Believe me, it all sort of fell into my hands. It only took three different pieces to reproduce it and I was too satisfied, too pleased with myself on this. Who would’ve thought I could recreate something couture – and a Dior one at that? ;-) Seriously, this should be my best couture styling of the year award and yes I am bestowing it upon myself. Hahaha!!! :)
